Step out on faith. Walk on water. Be obedient when God calls. He's guiding you to something greater. He will see you through. Visibility may be low but God is all seeing and all knowing so we can trust him despite what our human senses and rationale can experience or explain.
the Bible says:
1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures.
He leads me beside still waters.
3 He restores my soul.
He leads me in paths of righteousness
for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil,
for you are with me;
your rod and your staff,
they comfort me.
We are surrounded by holiness. God before us goodness and mercy behind us. Walk in confidence. You will make it through this storm and every other challenge that comes your way.
When someone does something nice for you it's important to show appreciation for what they have done. This can take place in many forms, but the easiest way is simply to say thank you. God does so much for us, Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice by giving his life.
When was the last time you took a moment simply to say "thank you Lord"?
The Bible says:
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good! His faithful love endures forever.
1 Chronicles 16:34
Each morning when you wake up show your appreciation to God with a simple thank you. Let your life be a reflection of gratitude.
There's an old children's song we used to sing in vacation bible school that says "I've got the joy, joy, joy, joy down in my heart", as Christian's we are able to experience the grace and joy of knowing God.
The Bible says:
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.
Because of this, we are to live in a way that doesn't cause others to stumble. The kingdom of God is about walking in righteousness, encountering the peace of God, and expressing the joy of the Holy Spirit on a daily basis. Doing so not only pleases God, but inspires others to do likewise.
When we wake up each morning we have something to be excited about. Christ died for our sins so we can be forgiven, have a direct relationship with God, and eternal life. The Holy Spirit is our comforter and dwells within us and enables us to have peace, walk righteously and express the joy and love of Christ. Today, let the joy deep in your heart be a display of Gods goodness and love.
Ever had a day when everything is going great then out of the blue something happens outside of your control that brings frustration? Often the first response is to get angry or complain. I know I've been guilty of saying things like "what was the point of that"?
For these moments the Bible tells us:
19This you know, my beloved brethren.
But everyone must be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger;
20for the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God.
There is a purpose in everything that happens to us good or bad. Maybe it's to mature us, maybe it's to train us in patience or compassion, whatever the purpose our response should be to look to God first. He is in control. So the next time you face a frustrating situation don't let it ruin your day. Keep your head up and know it's all a part of the grand plan.
It's my birthday! What a wonderful opportunity to reflect on all God has done and be thankful for his daily provisions.
The Bible says:
21This I recall to my mind,
Therefore I have hope.
22The LORD’S loving-kindnesses indeed never cease,
For His compassions never fail.
23They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
We have a fresh chance to walk in God's grace every single day! We are constantly on his mind because he cares for us. Today, take a moment to think about the ways God has blessed you and how his daily refreshing enables you to live a life of confidence that brings him glory.
We've all had those days when we wake up feeling less than great. You know, when everything you put on seems unflattering, your hair just won't work right and skin is breaking out. Even in these moments it is important to remember that we are fearfully and wonderfully made.
Our beauty not only comes from the outward appearance, but the complexity of the human body as a whole. The way God designed every organ and muscle to work together, every hair and even our skin as a layer of protection. When we look at it this way, we can truly be amazed at God's incredible design.
He created us in his image and we are a reflection of his perfection. He made each of us special and unique. And you know what? No matter how you feel about it, or what makeup or clothes you put on, God still loves you. Walk in confidence knowing that you are one of a kind.
13 For You formed my inward parts;
You wove me in my mother’s womb.
14 I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made;
Wonderful are Your works,
And my soul knows it very well.
It hurts when you have feelings for someone and it's not mutual. Sometimes we exhaust ourselves trying to be a good friend or are disappointed when we find ourselves seemingly alone during tough times. But God is there and he cares when it seems no one else does.
Christ extends his love to us despite our shortcomings, faults, limitations and bad choices. His love is unconditional. When we express our love towards him by following his commandments, we are able to engage in a friendship with Christ.
The Bible says:
13“Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends.
14“You are My friends if you do what I command you.
15 “No longer do I call you slaves, for the slave does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you.
There are different types of relationships, but a friendship requires a mutual bond. Do your actions, words, and life reflect your love for God? Are you really a friend of God or do you just know him?
Over the past few months I've witnessed several good people face difficult challenges. Often times we wonder why bad things happen to good people. Or we find ourselves in situations that we never would have imagined. Whether it's illness, financial burdens, rejection, a broken relationship, or even struggles with sin, God is able to deliver us. And because of this, we can not only find the strength to move forward, but to Glorify him in the midst of the storm.
If you are in this situation take heart for the word of God says:
17 The righteous cry, and the LORD hears
And delivers them out of all their troubles.
18 The LORD is near to the brokenhearted
And saves those who are crushed in spirit.
19 Many are the afflictions of the righteous,
But the LORD delivers him out of them all.
Cry out to God and he will hear you. If you are broken-hearted God is near you. If you are suffering just remember it is temporary and know that God will deliver you.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; Proverbs 3:5
How many times have you gotten to the end of the day wondering how you even made it through? Things can get hectic, and it is easy to become overwhelmed by what is going on around you, but, isn't it good to know that you don't have to do it all in your own strength? Even if you are physically carrying the burden of many, there is one who is with you who enables you to continue to stand and move forward.
Situations may not make sense sometimes, and may seem impossible in our own sight, but this is where we must trust God and not depend on our own wisdom or emotions. All things truly work together for the good of them who love God and are called according to his purpose. So keep your head up, trust in the Lord, and know that even if it doesn't make sense right now, there is a purpose for it, and you are equipped to handle it.
"Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help."
Psalm 146 King James Version (KJV)
1 Praise ye the Lord. Praise the Lord, O my soul.
2 While I live will I praise the Lord: I will sing praises unto my God while I have any being.
3 Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help.
4 His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish.
5 Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the Lord his God:
6 Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever:
7 Which executeth judgment for the oppressed: which giveth food to the hungry. The Lord looseth the prisoners:
8 The Lord openeth the eyes of the blind: the Lord raiseth them that are bowed down: the Lord loveth the righteous:
9 The Lord preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.
10 The Lord shall reign for ever, even thy God, O Zion, unto all generations. Praise ye the Lord.
Where do you put your trust? People can disappoint you, material things don't last forever, but God remains the same. Put your trust in the Lord, He loves you.
